June 11, 2014: It's Been 100 Days Since My Lap-Band Surgery
WOO HOO! I started my Lap-Band journey at 237 lbs. I lost 16 lbs in my two week pre-op liquid diet phase, and weighed 221 lbs on my surgery day, March 3rd 2014. I've lost another 33 pounds in the 100 days since for a total of 49 lbs. I've never felt better! You can read about my journey starting with Day 1: My Surgery Day. Since that day, my only issue with the surgery was an allergic reaction to dermabond. I got my first fill on Day 17, flew in an airplane on day 28 and transitioned to solid foods on day 35. All with no problems or issues. I hit Onederland on day 54. And by day 74, I was officially in the "Green Zone". I have celebrated my birthday, bought new clothes at my favorite store and found a new enjoyment in bike rides. Best yet, my laparoscopic scars have began to fade.
Let's talk about food!
Foods I love to eat:
Tuna, Egg, Beans, Steak, Chicken, Chili - basically anything with lots of protein. I also love a good taco. I can eat just about anything I have tried. I have not gotten "stuck". I eat about 1/4 - 1/2 cup of food at a time.
Foods I don't like anymore:
Pizza - makes me zapped of energy
Lattes - makes me feel bloated
Foods I haven't tried:
RIce and big fluffy bread (like a roll or bagel) - I do not need these foods, plus I don't want to risk getting them stuck.
Let's talk about NSVs!
Clothing Sizes:
Pants: I went from 18-20 to 14-16
Shirts: I went from XXL-2x to M-L
Other Non Scale Victories (NSVs):
Lots of energy, walking faster and spending less money on food.
Would I do the surgery again?
In a heartbeat!
Who is my surgeon?
